Single Vision
Can be used for obtaining clearer vision specifically for either long range, mid range or close range focusing.
Long range or ‘Distance’ lenses are predominantly used for activities such as:
driving
watching television
cinema
Mid range lenses are predominantly used when:
Using a computer monitors or Visual Display Units (VDU)
Observing objects at a distance of approximately 70cm/ 2ft
Close range or ‘Near’ lenses are predominantly used for activities such as:
Reading
Observing objects at a distance of approximately 40 cm /1ft
Varifocal
Combines all your necessary corrections for long range, mid range and close range into one single lens eliminating the need for multiple spectacles.
The gradual transition of the powers through the lens gives the appearance of a normal single vision lens.
If it is your first time using varifocal lenses most people will go through a short adaption process to get accustomed to them. The length of this adaption period varies from patient to patient. Correct fitting of this type of lens is essential as you must look through the correct part of the lens for each distance to reap the benefits.
Bifocal
Combines both close range and distance range powers into the one lens. The close range power is located in a distinctive segment at the bottom of the lens while the long range power occupies the remainder of the lens. The close range segment comes in 3 different shapes:
Round Top
D-seg
C-Seg
E-Line
Coatings can be used individually or in combination to customise your eyewear.
What are the options?
Hard Coat
Provides the lens with an extra hard surface to give it added protection from scuffs and scrapes extending the life span of your lenses.
Anti Reflection
Reduces glare penetrating the eye from external light sources. This is particularly advantageous during night time driving.
Stay Clean
Provides a surface that has superior resistance to everyday grease and grime helping to maintain the clarity of your lenses without excessive cleaning extending the life span of your lenses.
Honeycomb
Honeycomb lenses incorporate pinhole technology to refilter light entering the eye. The patented technology of a natural interlocking honeycomb pattern enables cleaner rays of light to pass through the eye onto the macula. This helps to reduce glare, distortion and avoids overworking the cornea and interior lens. As a result, any inadequacy in the refractive power of the lens or cornea is slightly compensated for and clarity is improved.
Blue shield for VDU protection
Blue Shield coating has been designed specifically to filter the blue-light rays emitted from many frequently used electrical devices such as smart phones, tablets and PC monitors. A Blue Shield lens blocks 99.75% of UV at 410nm.
In addition, a Blue Shield lens absorbs 20% of blue light transmission (380-500nm) for 1.67* index and 18% (380-500nm) for 1.61* index. Blue Shield lenses offer minimised reflection and glare with an enhanced scratch resistance to increase their lifespan. They are also very easy to clean due to the anti-static qualities.
